National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS): NOLS takes people into the wilderness for an extended period of time, teaches them the right things, feeds them well and walks them out of the mountains as skilled leaders. The core of this is the extended expedition, one of sufficient length that a person could learn and practice the skills over and over again.
